How do I study?

Who is this course for?

OET preparation courses are for nurses who want to achieve Grade B in the 4 papers of the OET (Occupational English Test). The maximum class size is 10 and the average class size is 6-8.

What level is this course at?

OET preparation courses are set at a B2 level of both Medical and General English. At this level, you can communicate well with patients and colleagues in a wide variety of scenarios. You have a wide range of vocabulary, both medical and in general, and can use complex grammar when writing and speaking. This level is also equivalent to 6.5 in IELTS.

How do online classes work?

Using a computer and a headset, you will meet your teacher and classmates in an online classroom. We work with Zoom, an award-winning platform used by universities and colleges around the world. In the classroom, your teacher will use video, audio, collaborative documents, breakout groups and a variety of activities to ensure classes are fun, motivating, and useful.

What materials will I use?

You will use a combination of specially written OET materials, published OET course books, and test practice materials provided by OET.

Will there be any homework?

Yes! You need to study hard to achieve Grade B in OET. Your teacher will set homework which will support the lessons. It’s very important you do this.

Can I do anything else to help myself prepare for the test?

Yes! It’s important to read and listen to as much medical language as possible before you take the OET test. So, read medical journals, listen to lectures, and watch presentations and documentaries. Your teacher will advise you on what you can do to best use your free time.
